Back To School
It is the unofficial last weekend of summer. Are you ready for what is ahead? Here are some things to think about as you walk through the gates of the first day of school.
The
morning stretches open before you like it has not in the endless array of
summer moments. But don’t get overwhelmed by the idea. Choke back the tears and
step out of the shadows. It is the first day of school; time to man up.
Either
it will be the alarm sounding off or the school bus beeping its horn outside that
will give you the stark realization that the summer is over; back to the hustle
and bustle of learning.
Make
sure to walk past the sun dappled gardens on your way to school with your head
held up high and be sure to have your gear draped over your body neatly so that
you can emit self-confidence and proudly embrace the circumference of the other
students and the teacher that will be yours for the next nine months.
Don’t
skirt around the fact that this is the first day of school. It might be just
the beginning but that does not mean that it is not worthy of your full
attention or active participation, even if your teacher decides to discuss the
importance of learning at length for the entirety of the day.
The
best way to cement success in this new calendar year is by heralding it in with
fresh enthusiasm. Letting your teacher’s words digest and taking what he or she
says seriously will make a quantum difference in how you approach the school
year. Remember it is your teacher’s first day of school also and they are using
their superhuman feats to try to leave a positive imprint in you so, be nice to
them.
Your new teacher will explain to you that she is there to add to the storehouse of knowledge already in your hand through a flurry of learning experiences she has prepared for the year ahead. Make a sincere effort to patiently listen to what the teacher has to say without rushing to answer.
Your
focus in this important moment will be helpful for you to avoid the
distractions that might present itself while fulfilling your silo of
responsibilities; and do not allow anyone to tell you that reading is a
punishment. Reading is fun and it is important. Especially if you want to
prevail and survive.
Be
prepared, pay attention in the classroom, do your homework, study, read, and
rise up to go beyond meeting the expectations so that your education won’t become
a roller coaster experience.
You
got the strength within for excellency. No worries or doubts necessary if you
keep in mind that believing in yourself is a full-time job. If you want to get
through it with the most success possible, do what needs to be done to get
ahead of the work the teacher gives you to complete and be ready for the tests or quizzes
that are about to become your life.
Remember
the fact that you were built to thrive. I believe in you. Have a terrific
school year and enjoy it to the max!
